Short biographical note

Francesco Moretti è nato a Pisa il 18 agosto del 1973. Ha conseguito il Diploma di maturità ad indirizzo Visivo-Ambientale nel 1992 presso il Liceo Artistico Statale di Lucca. Dal 1993 al 1997 frequenta la scuola di pittura del Prof.G. Ulivi presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze, nel 1997 ha conseguito il Diploma di Pittura con valutazione di 110 e lode. Tesi su Frank Stella.

Si occupa di pittura, scultura, grafica, fotografia, incisione, installazione, video e decorazione di ambienti. Molte sono le collaborazioni con artisti italiani ed esteri, tra le più significative ricordiamo quelle con Keith Haring, Marco Eberle e Theodoros Papagiannis. Ha esposto in 17 mostre personali e più di 40 collettive tenutesi in gallerie, musei, spazi pubblici e centri sociali in Italia, Grecia, Francia, Svizzera, Turchia e Marocco. Ha presentato i propri video in festival internazionali in Italia e all'estero. Ha lavorato nella decorazione di interni per spazi pubblici e privati in Svizzera, Italia e Grecia. Nell'ambito del cinema e del teatro ha curato sia scenografie che disegno luci. Ha curato l'organizzazione di vari eventi artistici, tra i più significativi la mostra "Segni della Strada" per il Comune di Pisa e la Comune di San Bernardo. Le sue opere sono presenti in spazi pubblici e in collezioni private in Italia, Svizzera e Grecia. Sue opere fanno parte della collezione permanente del museo Laografico del Peloponneso, della Pinacoteca di Messolonghi e del Museo di Arte Contemporanea Th. Papagiannis, Elleniko, Giannina, Grecia.

Insegna discipline artistiche presso il Fougaro e la scuola SEK Epidauro (Argolida, Grecia). Collabora in qualità di artista al corso di post-laurea dell’Università del Peloponneso.

Dal 2005 vive e lavora tra la Grecia e l’Italia.

Francesco Moretti was born in Pisa in 1973. He received his diploma in 1992 at the Liceo Artistico Statale di Lucca and in 1997 he obtained a Diploma of Painting & Engraving with a distinction at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence. His dissertation was on Frank Stella.

He works with painting, sculpture, engraving, photography, video art, installation, interior design, graphic design, advertisement. There are several collaborations with Italian and foreign artists, among the most significant ones, with Keith Haring, Theodoros Papagiannis and Marco Eberle. He has exhibited in 17 solo and more than 40 group exhibitions in Italy, Greece, France, Switzerland, Hungary and Morocco. He worked in the decoration of interiors for private and public spaces in Switzerland, Italy and Greece. He worked as light and stage designer in film and theatre as well as technical manager of theatre and art festivals. He curated the organization of various artistic events for the Municipality of Pisa and for Cantiere San Bernardo.

His works are in public spaces and private collections in Italy, Morocco, Switzerland and Greece, among which at the Ifitry Centre for Contemporary Art in Essaouira, Morocco, at Bisonte Foundation in Florence, Italy, at the Municipality of Ioannina, at the Folk Museum of Peloponnese, Nafplio, at the Museum of Contemporary Art Th. Papagiannis, Elliniko, Ioannina, at Pinakothiki Moschandreou Messolonghi, and at Fougaro Art Centre in Nafplio. He teaches visual arts in Fougaro Art Centre, at Epidaurus Vocational School, at the Postgraduate Program of the Theatre Studies Department of the University of the Peloponnese. Since 2005 he lives and works in Nafplio in Greece.

Ο Francesco Moretti γεννήθηκε στην Πίζα το 1973. Είναι απόφοιτος του Καλλιτεχνικού Λυκείου της Λούκκα (1992) και αριστούχος απόφοιτος της Σχολής Καλών Τεχνών της Φλωρεντίας (1997), με ειδίκευση στη ζωγραφική - χαρακτική και διπλωματική εργασία πάνω στο έργο του Frank Stella.

Εργάζεται με τη ζωγραφική, τη γλυπτική, τη χαρακτική, τη φωτογραφία, τη βίντεο-τέχνη, τις εγκαταστάσεις, την εσωτερική διακόσμηση, το ντιζάιν, τη γραφιστική και τη διαφήμιση. Συνεργάστηκε με γνωστούς καλλιτέχνες (Keith Haring, Marco Eberle και Θεόδωρος Παπαγιάννης) και έχει στο ενεργητικό του 17 ατομικές εκθέσεις και συμμετοχές σε περισσότερες από 40 ομαδικές εκθέσεις στην Ιταλία, την Ελλάδα, την Ελβετία, τη Γαλλία, την Ουγγαρία και το Μαρόκο. Δούλεψε, επίσης, ως διακοσμητής εσωτερικών χώρων στην Ιταλία, την Ελλάδα και την Ελβετία, ως σχεδιαστής φωτισμών και σκηνογράφος στο θέατρο και τον κινηματογράφο, στην τεχνική δεύθυνση φεστιβάλ και ως επιμελητής εικαστικών εκθέσεων για λογαριασμό του Δήμου της Πίζας.

Έργα του βρίσκονται σε δημόσιους χώρους και ιδιωτικές συλλογές στην Ιταλία, την Ελλάδα, το Μαρόκο και την Ελβετία, μεταξύ άλλων στο Ίδρυμα Ifitry στο Μαρόκο, στο Ίδρυμα Bisonte στη Φλωρεντία, στον Δήμο Ιωαννίνων, στη συλλογή του Πελοποννησιακού Λαογραφικού Μουσείου στο Ναύπλιο, στο Μουσείο Σύγρονης Τέχνης Θ. Παπαγιάννης στο Ελληνικό Ιωαννίνων, στην Πινακοθήκη Μεσολογγίου, στον χώρο πολιτισμού Φουγάρο στο Ναύπλιο. Διδάσκει μαθήματα εικαστικών τεχνών στο Φουγάρο, στο ΣΕΚ Επιδαύρου και στο Μεταπτυχιακό Πρόγραμμα του Τμήματος Θεατρικών Σπουδών του Παν. Πελοποννήσου. Από τον Αύγουστο του 2005 ζει στο Ναύπλιο όπου διατηρεί το εργαστήρι του.
